Our Story (My Story)

If you've ever wondered what a labor of love on steroids looks like, I'm pretty sure you have found it!

Between personal health issues (I had a spinal cord injury in 1998 and was given a 90% chance I'd never walk again), family members who made special requests, and the friends who said "Oh, Debbie, you should try making ... whatever."
Trust me the list never seems to get less. The more I make, the more I create. I'm not sure there will ever be an end to the offerings because there will likely never be an end to the need for good, reliable, botanical products to soothe the mind, body and/or spirit.

It's just me — all me. I wanted to keep things simple and keep the enterprise small. I started out crafting and formulating products. (That was all before I spent the next several thousand hours researching and formulating my most current and trusted items.)
I was a creative director for an advertising agency (in another lifetime) and so, naturally, I had to design my own logo. Next came the design and layout for the labels. I also produced some literature so people could have something to refer to and reach out from, should they pick one up.
All that effort has now blossomed into this website. But, at the end of the day, it's still just me ... a prolific "Jack of all trades, Master of none."
The Progression: Trained. Certified. Legit.
It all started from an innocent-enough comment.
I had made some lotion bars for a friend. She told a friend. Then, her friend asked about my qualifications.

I immediately stopped making products for any other than my closest friends. I had already signed up for a course to become an Aromatherapist, with a Level 1 certification. I put that on hold and signed up for an additional course formulating natural botanical skin care products.
​
I laugh about spending 4 years getting my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (125 hours). I currently have nearly 300 hours of training in this field, having found a new venue for creating products to help others.
​
I have completed all of my core training programs with The School for Aromatic Studies; and maintain my continuing education requirements. Since 2022, I am certified with the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.
​
It is with a healthy chuckle I conclude with those who know me well, know I can't be held down for long. Mom always did call me her Free Spirit. I hope she'd be proud and that you enjoy the visit!

My second book on essential oils was released at the beginning of March 2024. This is basically an addendum to the first — covering an additional 20 oils and recipes for every day use. The two books are meant to compliment each other as a set.

"Greenlight." (Thanks, Matthew.) Just released in January 2024! My first book on essential oils. I'm very proud of this accomplishment. Honestly, it wasn't until after I'd created this website that it occurred to me to write a book. And, because of the well-spring of creative juices this process inspired, there are more to come.

April 2024: Just released! The third and final book on essential oils in this series. This book covers a group of lesser-known oils — 20 oils that are well-loved, but not as "go-to" as the oils in either of the first two books. This book completes the set.
